Give Thanks

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

The Lord is always good, no matter what is happening in our life, the Lord is good. Recently, a young person mentioned that they get angry at God for what has happened in their life. They felt God had caused evil to happen in their life. Unfortunately, many people fall into this lie and blame God for the evil that God sent His son to win the victory.

This reminds me of many war-torn countries where pure evil- unimaginable slaughter, has broken out. Other countries hear of the devastation and step in to help those being victimized. Before they make any headway, the very enemy that is causing the destruction whispers into the ears of the people, or shouts from megaphones, “Don’t trust them, they are here to harm you!” The very ones attempting to gain control through manipulation, violence, and murder instill a fear of the ones who can save them, making them turn on the rescuers in hostility and sometimes violence.

The Savior of the world comes with open arms wanting to rescue and bring healing, but so many people hear the whisper of the evil one saying that God is the cause of the pain and only wants to punish them.  We know, however, that the Lord is good and faithful to love us. When we dive into the Word we see over and over that God is not an angry wrathful God. Instead, He is a loving Father chasing after the ones He loves to rescue them and bring them to a place of eternal protection.

In other circumstances, the enemy turns the children away from the healing aspects that are available to them. The ones who know and trust God hear the lie that deliverance, emotional healing, and physical healing are dangerous and only out to harm them. Again, we can turn to scripture to find the truth to this. Throughout the New Testament, we see His desire to see people healed-completely. The word often used is “sozo” which refers to complete wholeness, body, mind, and soul. Going back further, we see time and again where God brought healing to the people. Psalm 147:3 beautifully speaks to emotional healing, “He heals the brokenhearted

and binds up their wounds.”

The Father desires us to know that the enemy, who has come to steal, kill, and destroy, but that He came to bring life and life abundantly. The word used here for abundant means something more superior, extraordinary, or surpassingly great. Today, know this, the Father loves you. He desires great things for you and desires to heal all your wounds. Allow Him to uncover any areas where you have doubted His goodness towards you and replace those lies with His truth.

The Lord is good, and His love endures forever.
