Shine Your LightBy Living in His Shadow
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalms 91:1
When we abide in the shadow of Christ, we can’t help but radiate His light. How are you stewarding His light? Are you intentionally spending time in His presence? Think of it like a solar panel. The more it’s exposed to the sun, the more power it absorbs. It can provide energy even in the darkness when it absorbs power.
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”John 8:12
People knew Jesus’ disciples because they spoke differently; they acted differently. Why? Because they had been in His presence. They were just ordinary people doing extraordinary things because they had been in the presence of God.
The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.Acts 4:13
I think of the scripture of Peter when people brought the sick into the streets, hoping that his shadow would heal them. It’s incredible what his shadow was capable of doing. Why was his shadow powerful? Because he had been in the presence of God. There’s no shadow without light. The source of your light will determine the shadow you are casting.
As a result of the apostles’ work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by. Crowds came from the villages around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and they were all healed.Acts 5:15-16
I enjoy listening to podcasts and YouTube videos of my favorite ministers, but if I’m not seeking Him, I will depend on what they carry to feed me spiritually. Isn’t this partially why Jesus told his disciples that he wouldn’t always be with them? We must lean into Holy Spirit to gain spiritual maturity by having our own encounters and revelations. I encourage you to take some time to evaluate how you are spending your time. Who’s shadow are you abiding under? Are you casting the right shadow and shining your light bright?
