Silence Is Not An OptionTime To Act

Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.

1 Chronicles 28:20

I was reading a devotional that centered around 1 Chronicles 28. The highlighted verse was 20, which reads, 'Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.’ We’ve read this verse a hundred times and quoted it even more probably, but two little words stood out to me, ‘and act.’ I’ll leave that there to come back to it.

I had the opportunity to go to a pastors' summit hosted by Turning Point USA- Faith. During the conference, several of the speakers referenced Numbers 30. Please read the whole chapter. Here is a summary. This chapter speaks of vows between a man and a bride and between a father and daughter. It explains that if a vow is made and heard and isn’t exposed and broken, then the vow will stand. This is where ‘speak now or forever hold your peace’ is rooted in marriage vows. The silence gives consent for the marriage ceremony to continue.

This is what has happened to the church at large. She’s made a vow that she won’t get involved in politics. She won’t talk about things like abuse, porn, or sex in general other than fornication. She won’t step into society and be outspoken toward immortality. She will remain ignorant of the enemy's schemes, “If we keep our head in the sand, then we don’t have to address the issue.” The church's silence consented to the enemy's rampant presence in this world.

The Hebrew word for silence in Numbers 30:4 is haras. It also means to plow just like a farmer knows when to plow. We must know when to remain silent and when to speak. I want to encourage you with 1 Chronicles 28:20 “...Be strong and courageous, AND ACT; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.”

There comes a time when our prayers have feet. Friends, that time is now! Now is the time to plow and stand up for the truth. Now is the time to act. The church’s silence towards immorality and the enemy’s tactics is no longer an option. Will there be persecution for speaking the truth? Absolutely, but we have a good dad that will not forsake us.

Father, I pray that eyes are opened to see the enemy’s movements before he advances. I pray that boldness boils up within the church to stand and act on your behalf! That your truth, Lord, will be spoken without fear. Because you are with us and you will not fail us!! In Jesus' name.

If you would like resources to know how to combat the enemy coming against the church and her voice, email me at hope@rnetwork.org.
