Taming the Tongue

Taming the Tongue - Gossip Needs to Go

By Beth Evans

I had a warning dream from the Lord for the body of Christ on May 18, 2024.

In the dream, I saw the enemy disguised as a brother in the Lord. He began to talk sweetly and kindly, and then he began to gossip. I then saw a Christian brother join in with him and gossip. The enemy is using this tactic to cause those in the body of Christ to fall. It’s deception. The enemy so deceived the Christian brother as they gossiped that all my efforts to stop it went unnoticed.

Many Christians have become so comfortable with gossip that they no longer feel convicted by it. God said it is time for the gossip to stop. Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬ says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Christians, when a sister or brother confides in you with their issues, and then you take their problems straight to the next sister or brother you talk to, it’s no wonder the body of Christ is walking around wholly bound up, feeling that they cannot confide in anyone.  When someone trusts you enough to confide in you about a matter, the only person you’re supposed to talk to is God when you take it to Him in prayer. Just because you add, “Bless her heart” or “He sure could use our prayers” when you repeat it,  it doesn’t change the fact that it is still gossip. When we hear something about someone, whether true or false, we instantly form an opinion about them. The devil plants his wicked seeds through gossip.

1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭says, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

The Lord showed me that he’s bringing the gossipers to light. In the days ahead, it will be so clear who the gossipers are that the gossip that happens in secret will be as if it were done right in front of everyone. Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭3‬ ‭says, “Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.”

We should all repent now for the gossip that’s already happened, then cry out to God and ask Him to help tame our tongue.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
